Daily Devotional – ‘In His Footstep’

April 7th 2023

God is at Work
For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
Bible Reading: Matthew 27
Jesus was crucified. He was put to shame and brutally dealt with (Isaiah 52:13-15, Isaiah 53). After all that was done to him, he gave up the ghost and permission was sought to bury his body. He was buried in the tomb provided by Joseph the Aremetia. When Jesus died, I imagine there was absolute silence in heaven. On the surface, it seemed nothing was happening , but in the realm of the spirit, an eternal transaction was happening that would change the course of humanity forever. Matthew gives us a peek into what was happening: “Jesus passionately cried out, took his last breath, and gave up his spirit. At that moment, the veil in the Holy of Holies was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook violently, rocks were violently split apart, and graves were opened. Then many of the holy ones who had died were brought back to life and came out of their graves.” (Matthew 27:50-52). The impact of the death and resurrection of Jesus will be forever indelible. Dear friends, as we reflect on the season of Easter, I would like to encourage you that no matter what you are passing through, God loves you. You may think God is silent on your case, but be rest assured that as long as you are on His side, He is turning things around for your good. I encourage you to be full of faith, knowing that God is for you.
Daily Confession: God, thank you because you are working in my life even when I cannot see it. I walk by faith, not by sight, because You are for me.
Intercessory prayer: I pray for encouragement for ministers of the gospel in my city in Jesus’ name.
Hymn: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey
