God Is Your Father
Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment]. (Hebrews 4:16, AMP)
Bible Reading: Luke 15:11-32
To conclude our series on “The Father’s Love”, I would like to encourage someone today to rethink how you have been approaching God. God is your Father and there is something profound about knowing God as a Father. He is not just a father, He is a loving Father who cares about you. Many of Christians grew up thinking God is distant, fault finding and intolerant of our mistakes. We have to learn to see God for who He is — a loving Father who created us in His image and in His likeness and redeemed us from eternal destruction through His only Son, Jesus Christ. We have to learn to confidently approach God as our heavenly Father just like a child will approach his earthly father with confidence and faith that his father will attend to him. We have to stop looking at God as a wicked taskmaster who is always waiting for us to make mistakes so that He can punish us. Like the prodigal son’s father in our reading today who longed for his son to come home and ran to his son immediately he sighted him from afar despite his mistake, God longs for us and calls us to come to Him. Bring all your care unto Him for He cares for you. May you rest in the assurance that no matter the situation, know that God loves you.
