God Knows Your Name
But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1
Bible Reading: Jeremiah 1:4-8
Since I understood that God is personal, my approach to fellowship has changed. I approach Him with confidence (Hebrew 4:16), I read the Bible with a different mindset that God is MY Heavenly Father who knows and deeply cares for me. I come into His presence knowing that He is not far away— rather He is Emmanuel, God with us. This singular revelation settled many things for me— God knows me by name (Isaiah 43:1), God knows my thought (Psalm 94:11); my name is engraved in the palm of His hands (Isaiah 49:16), God has a plan for me (Jeremiah 29:11) etc. My walk with God became very personal. The revelation we stand on as believers is important. The truth we stand under will determine the depth of our walk with God. To a reader of this devotional today, I want you to know that God knows you. This means that like prophet Jeremiah, before you were formed in the belly, God knew you. He sanctified you even before you came forth out of the womb and He ordained you. I love God’s interaction with Jeremiah because God’s presence silenced Jeremiah’s self-doubt. Notice that there are seven ‘I’s — God’s perfect plan clearly came through and God showed forth his power, grace and love to Jeremiah. Dear friends, whatever you may be passing through, know that God loves you and He deeply cares for you. He is personal and if you can diligently walk with Him, trust Him and take actions in Him, you will see Him show forth His glory. If you are yet to have a personal walk with God, today is another opportunity to invite Jesus into your life.
Daily Confession: Thank you my Heavenly Father for you know my name and you care for me.
Intercessory prayer: Let’s pray that God’s love will radiate over those undergoing challenging time.
Hymn: I have found a friend in Jesus-
He’s ev’rything to me,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Lily of the Valley- in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
In sorrow He’s my comfort, in trouble He’s my stay,
He tells me ev’ry care on Him to roll;
He’s the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the greatest of ten thousand to my soul.
