God of Wonders

God sits above the circle of the earth. The people below seem like grasshoppers to him! He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them. Isaiah 40:22 NLT

Bible Reading: Isaiah 40:12-24

God is wonderful. He is the God of wonders. He is indescribable, unquestionable and Almighty. Who can fathom our God for His ways are higher than ours (Psalm 103:11). We have to learn the act of reflecting on the wonders and the wonderful-ness of our God. Many times we limit God because of our inability to see Him for who He is. We reduce Him to our circumstances and situations. We have to obtain grace to see God for Who He is— in the beauty of His holiness; in His majesty— highly exalted over and above all things. The eyes of our faith must see God through His word. Like the Psalmist, we have to take the time every day to consider the works of God’s hands and ask ourselves, ‘what are mortals that God is mindful of them? Psalm 8:3-4. Here are some of the implications of seeing God for who He is: First, it brings us closer to God, our hearts will be full of gratitude, and we will enjoy His creation and His presence. Secondly, such an attitude will help us to know Him more and seek Him; thirdly, it will strengthen our faith because we will see that God is more than we can ever ask or imagine. He is more than our situations and our needs. Fourthly, we will have peace because we know that we can depend on Him and when anxiety or fear comes, we can pray and His peace will guard our hearts and mind (Philippians 4:6-7). Finally, we can eagerly wait to spend eternity with Him because if His wonder is like this on earth, how much more in heaven.

Action Point: Dear friends, some time today to acknowledge God’s wonder in your life and around you.

Intercessory prayer: We pray for encouragement, provision and protection or missionaries across the world in Jesus name.

Hymn: O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds thy hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed:

Refrain:
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
