God’s Love
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)
Bible Reading: Psalm 124
I believe many readers of this daily devotional can boldly say that they are eternally grateful and indebted to God for His love over their lives. Like the Israelites, if it has not been for the Lord on our side, we would have been consumed (Psalm 124:1). God’s deliberate and painstaking care, love and mercy keep us alive. And we can boldly say that whatever we become, it is only by His grace. Yesterday, we reflected on ‘God is love’. Love means sacrifice and intentionally giving up of something for the sake of the person we love. God showed His because He wanted us to be where He is and in order to do that, He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus (John 3:16). We also outlined the features of love and encouraged one another to love in words and deeds (1 Corinthians 13). Ultimately, we cannot love one another without experiencing the true love which is Jesus, hence the need to return to our first love, Jesus because He is love (Revelation 2:4).
In today’s reflection, I would like us to really appreciate God’s amazing love for us. And if you have not experienced God’s love, ask Him today because His arms are wide open. Here’s how John putts it in the Book of Revelation: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). Many times we need to take a break from everything we are doing and appreciate God for His unfailing love. God deserves our worship and gratitude. Although we may not be where we want to be, but we are not where we used to be. And it is simply God’s grace and mercy. Everything God does is motivated by His love: provision, protection, blessings, and unending favour etc. Dear friends, like the Israelites who enjoyed God’s salvation and deliverance,I encourage you to take time to worship God today from the depth of your heart because truly if it has not been the Lord that has been on our side, we would have been consumed.
Daily Confession: Thank you Heavenly Father for your amazing love that sustains me. Help me to love you daily and to continually bask in your love.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for families that are experience one trouble or another for God’s intervention.
