God’s Mercy Took Lot by Hand

“When he [Lot] hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them”

Genesis 19:16

Bible Reading: Genesis 19:1-22

May God be merciful unto you! If God chooses to have mercy on you, your life will enjoy an unprecedented favour. God is merciful and it is of God’s mercy that we are not consumed (Lamentations 3:22). God’s mercy means His forgiveness, tender-heartedness and loving compassion for His people. It is His tenderness of heart toward the needy. It was God’s mercy that made Him send His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die for our iniquity.

We need all God’s mercy in our lives. The story of Lot is a show of God’s mercy.

Today’s Bible reading is a story about Lot, Abraham’s nephew. Sodom and Gomorrah’s perversion and iniquities reached God and He decided to destroy the city. Abraham pleaded with God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if there were ten righteous persons but there was none except Lot (2 Peter 2:8), God’s mercy was shown unto Lot and his family because of Abraham (Genesis 19:29). The Lord kept Lot from destruction, the angel of the Lord held the destruction until Lot reached a safe destination. May God have mercy on you in Jesus name.

Although Lot lived amidst a perverse generation, he lived a righteous life. He trained his children in the way of the Lord. He honoured the Lord and was ready to give up his children just to keep the angels of the Lord. He did not live a life of sin like others in the city. Are you living your life to attract God’s mercy?

Dear friends, God’s election is by mercy because God’s grace qualifies a man, however we cannot live in sin and expect grace to abound (Romans 6:1). It is not of him that wills or runs but of God that shows mercy (Romans 9:16). I will have mercy on whom I have mercy and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. Jesus Christ has paid the ultimate price for our iniquity by dying on the Cross of Calvary for our redemption. Accept Jesus today and receive His mercy in your life.

Daily Confession: Lord have mercy on my life in Jesus name. I abound daily in the mercy of God.

Hymn: My faith looks up to Thee,

             Thou Lamb of Calvary,

             Savior divine!

Now hear me while I pray,

             Take all my guilt away,

Oh, let me from this day

             Be wholly Thine!
