God’s Plan (III)

‘Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you’. Jeremiah 29:12 [KJV]

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 29:11-14

We need to pray! Prayer is important to our Christian journey and to the fulfilment of our destiny. I cannot over emphasize the importance of prayer. Jesus is our example. On many instances in the gospels, we read about Jesus going to pray. For instance, in Luke 5:16, it is written of Jesus, ‘And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed’. We have to learn to withdraw ourselves from many things this year in order to pray. Here’s Apostle Paul’s admonition ‘Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.’ (Philippians 4:6). There will be circumstances that we will need to turn to God and pray about. When we pray to God wholeheartedly and in faith, it is a sign of trust and surrender unto God knowing that He is in full control of every situation.

Furthermore, apart from praying for ourselves, Apostle Paul also admonishes, ‘I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty’ (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Dear friends, the pandemic has shown that we need God’s intervention and His peace as the year continues. Intercede for all – from family to friends, the church of God, missionaries, cities, countries, leaders, institutions etc. Pray thus ‘Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven’ in Jesus name.

Daily Confession: Lord I pray that you give unto me the spirit of supplication and the strength to tarry in your presence in Jesus name.

Intercessory prayer: Let there be fresh fire and hunger for God in our churches and nation again. Bring revival and spiritual awakening in the lives of your people in Jesus’ name.

Hymn: Oh, how praying rests the weary!

Prayer will change the night to day;

So in sorrow and in gladness,

Dont forget to pray.
