God’s Unspeakable Gift
Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift. 2 Cor 9:15
Bible Reading: 2 Cor 9:11-15
Have you ever received a gift that you really felt thankful for? More so, what did you think was the intent of the giver for gifting you so generously? Personally, I have given gifts to people and usually I tend to unconsciously look out for their reactions after receiving the gift. I mostly feel satisfied and encouraged when my gift blesses someone and they wear a smile as they open their gifts. But when the contrary happens, it can be heartbreaking to realize that the gift was not appreciated or valued by the receiver. As children of God, God blesses us bountifully and enriches us. God’s blessings nd enrichment cute across all areas of our lives and the purpose is to meet our needs because God is the good shepherd. David acknowledged this when he said in Psalm 23:1 that “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want”.
Hence, what should be our attitude as recipients of God’s gifts? First of all, we must show gratitude unto God for what He has blessed us with. There is a popular saying that if you are thankful your tank will be full. As we thank God for what He has given us, we provoke God’s covenant of multiplication. Secondly, we must be generous to share with the needy around us of that which we have received from God, verses 12 and 13 of today’s Bible Reading elaborates in this by talking about our liberal distribution unto all men. The reward of doing this is found in verse 14 which is abundant Grace being released unto us by the prayers of recipients of our gifts.
Action Point: Do not withhold your hand from giving when you have the ability to do so.
Intercessory Prayer: Pray for those who are trusting God for a job for God’s provision for them.
Hymn: Praise to the Lord the Almighty, the King of creation
Oh my soul praise Him for He is my rock and salvation!
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near,
Praise Him in glad adoration.
