Imagine Christmas without Christ

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually— regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 AMP

Bible Reading: Luke 2:1-20

It is the Christmas season, and celebrations envelop the air. Shops are selling, people are buying, and decorations rend everywhere with a touch of white, red and green. The impact of this season is being felt in different parts of the world. Isn’t that wonderful? It is a time to exchange pleasantries, and gifts, eat, meet families, and sing annual songs.

Despite this global celebration and affinity for Christmas, it seems Christ has been removed from the season, and we are now left with just mass. Jesus Christ, the Reason for the season, the Saviour of the world, and the Good news of redemption, is silenced. The world is left with happy holidays without necessarily celebrating the season’s essence. As different gatherings are held in well-decorated spaces with Christmas lights on Christmas trees, the light of Jesus may permeate our hearts. Further, may the church never compromise its stand so that there can be an agreement between the spirit and the bride, come Lord. Dear friends, whether it used to be a pagan day of worship now turned into a Christian celebration of Christ or not, one thing I know is that Christ came to die for all. Acknowledging the season without Christ Jesus, the reason we celebrate is like giving without loving. May the world come to the true knowledge of Christ Jesus through our lives and deeds.

Action Point: Share the Gospel of Christ Jesus and material things with someone today.

Daily Confession: Lord, we thank You for the gift of Christ Jesus. May Jesus be the centre of our focus, and Lord be restored in our churches and our nations.

Intercessory prayer: Pray for anyone who needs the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Song: I will rejoice x3, for I made a choice to rejoice in the Lord
