Lean not on your understanding

“And they who know Your name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of and for) You [on the authority of God ‘s Word and the right of their necessity].” Psalms 9: 10

Bible Reading: Psalms 9: 1-10

The psalmist was a great man in the Bible history because he learned that life was more spiritually inclined than physically and also trusting more in God’s directive was much more peaceful than a billion wise men.

In this modern world of technology, we seem to trust Google to answer every question that bothers our mind. My friends always say before you ask me many silly questions ask Google to gain clarity before asking further if you don’t understand. This shows how much reliance we have on a system built by man.

Today, God is encouraging you and I to inquire of him salient issues of our lives and talk to him about everything. He is willing to give directives on it. And trust Him to always give you the best option whether it is feasible to human’s knowledge or not.

Like Father, like child, we can see in Proverbs 3: 5 where King Solomon said “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.” No matter how tough or easy the situation or decision is , remember to ask the Lord always for directions.

Self Reflection: How often do I seek God’s opinion ?

Daily Confession: Lord Jesus, I thank you today for your word. I lean not on my understanding about anything today and always, help me trust your directives only. Amen

Hymn: ¬ My hope is built on nothing less

               Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness

I dare not trust the sweetest frame

But wholly lean on Jesus’ name
