Lessons from the Ants (II)

Go to the ant, O lazy one; Observe her ways and be wise Proverbs 6:6 (AMP)

Bible Reading:  Proverbs 6:6-11

In our last reflection on this series, we identified three lessons from the ants: a high level of organization and coordination, a clear understanding of purpose, and an  accurate sense of timing. These are important to maximizing one’s potentials. Although the Bible speaks to a sluggard, in my opinion, these lessons are necessary for everyone. May God help us to understand these victuals for life and genuinely live in the reality of them.

Another lesson I would like us to examine today is the notion of governance. The Bible noted that the ants have the ability to do exploits even without a leader telling them to do so. If everyone can just do the right thing without being policed, our world will be a better place. A life that is surrendered to Jesus Christ, full of faith and controlled by the Holy Spirit has the capacity to do the right thing with or without a leader. We have to get to the point where we pursue right living and godly virtue without being policed or reminded before doing it. This is leadership in action based on righteousness and godliness. If the ants can live with such intelligence, how much more the people made in the image and likeness of God? Did you know that our situation sounded exactly like this in Garden of Eden before the fall of man? Adam had a level of intelligence, organization, coordination and understanding that he did not need anyone to police him before doing the right thing. This was because he was totally yielded unto God and the Spirit of God dwelt in Him. However immediately he fell, everything changed and he became an enemy of himself and of others.

Dear friends, if you have not given your life to Jesus, I invite you to consider your ways and surrender to Him. When you give your life to Jesus Christ, you will be restored back to God and a new journey to understanding and living in the reality of who you are meant to be in Jesus will begin. If you have given your life to Jesus, I congratulate you. I invite you to consider your ways and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you, “for as many as are led of the Holy Spirit are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14).

Daily Confession: Lord help me to take these lessons from the ants and fulfil your purpose through me in Jesus name, amen.

Intercessory prayer: Pray for the church you attend and the body of Christ as a whole for God’s touch and revival.

Hymn: What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
