Let Us Pray
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16b
Bible Reading: Matthew 6:9-13
When Jesus taught the disciples to pray in today’s Bible reading, he gave an order which their prayer must follow. Sometimes, when you truly desire to pray but you are unsure of where to begin and what to pray about, the Lord’s Prayer might be a good starting point for you. It is of great importance that we spend time in prayers as believers. Beyond the physical manifestations of answered prayers that we see, prayers bring untold refreshing to our hearts and a confidence that we have spoken to God about our situation. We shall be adopting the model of the Lord’s Prayer in our prayers today as God leads us.
  1. Let us thank God for who He is and for what He has done in our lives, families, nations, churches and the world.
  2. Thank God for the salvation of your soul and for God’s work in you daily conforming you unto the image of Christ Jesus.
  3. Ask that God’s will be done in us concerning every situation of our lives, that we may truly experience God’s kingdom in our everyday living.
  4. Pray for divine supply of every need according to God’s riches in glory. Pray that shame and reproach shall be far away from you, and that you will always have more than enough to give to the needy.
  5. Ask for God’s forgiveness of our sins as we release from our hearts all our offenders. Pray that God’s peace will flood your heart and let every feelings of hatred, worries and anger be swept off by the wind of the Holy Spirit.
  6. Pray for God’s deliverance from any evil, whether seen or unseen that may be lurking around you. That we may experience true peace and security in Christ Jesus.
  7. Pray for others, your friends or family who needs God’s help in their situation.
Read this scripture out loud as you bring your prayer to a close — “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” John 14:27
Hymn: I’ve found a friend in Jesus,
He’s everything to me
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul
The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
