Living by His word

But he answered and said, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4)

Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 8:1-3

Our world revolves around and responds to words. This is seen in God’s creation because creation existed through the word of God. God spoke and through His word called forth the world (John 1:1-3). God’s word is powerful, active and alive (Hebrews 4:12). The word of God carries divine power and gives us access to the mind of God. The rhema (the revealed word of God) must align with the logos (the written word of God). The Holy Spirit cannot give revelation that is contrary to the word of God. Christ Jesus’ responses to his temptation were from the word of God (Matthew 4:1-11). It is important to live according to the word of God because it gives wisdom that is profitable to direct (Ecclesiastes 10:10). When we patiently seek the face of the Lord to know His mind concerning our lives, we are directed right. We cannot live without seeking God’s mind through His word concerning our lives. Since God has put eternity in the heart of man, physical nourishment through bread‚ is not sufficient for a healthy life, we have spiritual needs only God can satisfy through God’s word. We must seek God through Christ Jesus because He is the way, and the truth and the life (John 14:6). Dear friends, to live by the word of God involves consistent fellowship with Him. As we daily seek more of Him and pay attention to His instructions, we are nourished and we receive needed guidance, direction and wisdom for daily living. God bless you!
