Old Rugged Cross (I)

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5, AMP)

Bible Reading: Isaiah 53
The cross is significant to the Christian faith. It does not only symbolize the death of Jesus, it connotes resurrection and life. Eternal life in Christ won’t have been possible without the cross. Jesus died for the sins of the world on the cross. He bled and took the shame for humanity. He knew the responsibility was heavy, that’s why he prayed at the Garden of Gethsemane, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42). Jesus went to the cross to die for us. Dear friends, the old rugged cross reminds us of redemption, the pain, agony and shame He had to pass through for you and me. Jesus paid it all — for our sins and so that we can spend eternity with him. If you are yet to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, I encourage you to do so today so that you can partake of the new life Jesus offered us when He died on the cross.
Daily Confession: Thank you Jesus for dying for me. I receive your life and cling to the Old Rugged Cross, amen.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for the nation of Turkey for God’s intervention, provision and God’s mercy. May this situation draw people to Jesus, amen.
Hymn: So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at least I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it someday for a crown.
