Prayer is the Key (II)

That men ought always to pray and not faint (Luke 18:1)

Bible Reading: Matthew 6:9-13

One of the things Jesus taught His disciples very early in His three and half years ministry was how to pray. The disciples must have seen Jesus praying. Jesus would spend the entire night praying because men ought always to pray and not faint (Luke 18:1). The success of any ministry is tied to prayer. The spiritual controls the physical and if one does not pray, then nothing changes and nothing moves. We have been given the power to reinforce God’s kingdom here on earth through prayer. In our Bible reading today, Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. We know you can spend hours, minutes or even seconds praying so the Lord’s prayer is not a prescription about how long to pray. Rather, it is about the structure or framework of prayer. Jesus taught them to start praying by acknowledging our Heavenly Father. Declare His kingdom and His to be done here on earth, that in our lives and in the cosmo as it is in heaven. Ask for your daily bread  because He is a lovely Father who satisfies His children with good things and daily benefits. Also, for His forgiveness for our sins with the responsibility to forgive others. Pray for God’s grace to overcome temptation and for His deliverance from evil. Finally, reaffirm His kingdom, His glory, and His power forever. Dear friend, pray!

Action Point: Spend one hour praying for various things in your life today.

Daily Confession: I receive grace for supplication in Jesus name.

Intercessory prayer: I pray for renewal of faith and hope for anyone who may have given up on life and on faith.

Hymn: Oh, how praying rests the weary!

Prayer will change the night to day.

So, when life gets dark and dreary,

Don’t forget to pray.
