Rest
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Genesis 2:2
Bible Reading: Genesis 2:1-3
An important aspect of a healthy and victorious living that is often ignored by many is rest. A lot of people do not place importance on the significance of rest until it is too late. This often leads to serious health complications and untimely death may occur due to serious health complications. Although the Bible encourages believers to be hardworking and never relent, the Bible also teaches us to observe rest at the right time, especially after completing some major tasks which we have set out to do. All believers should take a cue from God, after working for 6 days to create the heavens and the earth, God rested on the third day. If the Almighty God can take some time to rest, who are we to think we do not need rest. We must learn to strike a balance across all areas of life. this is to ensure freshness of energy and grace to forge ahead with future tasks.
Some of the things we can do while we rest include studying God’s word, spending time in prayers, sleeping, reading life-changing books, and a host of others. Resting time is a time when we are free from all activities and we experience some calmness both within and without. We must also note that our resting time is a time to stop all work-related activities. There is a blessing in resting, so if we fail to rest, we deny ourselves of this blessing. May God help us. Amen.
Daily Confession: Lord, I receive wisdom for daily living, to rest when I should after completing my tasks.
Intercessory prayer: Intercede for those who are trusting God for a job, that God will miraculously surprise them in Jesus name.
Hymn: When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His goodwill,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
