See What God Has Given You!

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. 2 Timothy 1:7 [AMP]

Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 1:5-10

A few days ago we were praying for boldness for Christians in our city to share their faith. As our group  continued in prayer, the Holy Spirit reminded us of what we have been freely given in Jesus Christ. Our attention was drawn to Proverbs 28:1b “… the righteous are as bold as a lion.” During the prayer meeting, we see the provisions we have in Christ Jesus and we prayed into it. As Christians, God has some provisions for us in Him. An example of God’s provision is found in our memory verse today. God has not given us the spirit of timidity or fear. It means fear is a spirit and whenever we sense it or see it at work anywhere, we have to learn to rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ. Instead, God has given us the spirit of power because we need power to be effective witnesses (Acts 1:8), spirit of love because it takes love to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and sound judgment and personal discipline because watching and living godly characters that will show that we are God’s children requires discipline. Today’s word is for someone who is passing through a situation that is causing you to fear. God has given you the spirit of fear. You’ve got God’s power, love and self-control because you belong to Christ. You have sound mind. Therefore, access God’s provision by faith. Continue to abide in Jesus Christ through His word so that you can know who you truly are in Him.

Daily Confession: I believe God’s word that I have the spirit of power, love and sound mind in Jesus name.

Intercessory prayer: Let’s pray for God’s intervention over different nations.

Hymn: When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word

What a gooey He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will, He abides with us till

And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey

For there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus,

Than to trust and obey.
