Daily Devotional – ‘In His Footstep’

April 3rd 2023

Seek God First
But first and most importantly, seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right-the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. (Matthew 6:33, AMP)
Bible Reading: Matthew 6:19-24
What is the number one priority in your life? Priorities determine what we spend our resources (time and energy etc) on. To a large extent, we are products of what we spend our time on because we become what we focus on. As children of God, the kingdom of God has to be our priority. In fact, we are to be God-seekers which means that we have to choose to devote our attention to God. We don’t have to allow our attention to be divided. Jesus teaching from our Bible reading today focuses on Jesus’ wise counsel and admonition about focusing on the kingdom of God. In essence, we have to be intentional about our walk with God. Jesus must be the centre of our focus, and all other things will be given to us. Everybody is busy pursuing something, the question is would you pursue God’s kingdom and his righteousness and let Him add every other thing to you?
Action point: Run a priority test by asking, “what do I spend most of my time on daily?”
Daily Confession: Help me Lord to seek first your kingdom for my life and the world.
Intercessory prayer: Pray that God’s kingdom will come and His will be done over our nation.
Hymn: Seek ye first the kingdom of God
And His righteousness,
And all these things
Shall be added unto you
Allelu, Alleluia!
