Serving Faithfully

Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. I Timothy 6:1

Bible Reading: I Timothy 6: 1-2

Although today’s instruction was directed to servants under masters, and we may not have similar experiences today, there are lessons to learn. First, service is a call to serve others and it requires faithfulness. The essence of Paul’s instruction is to be faithful, respectful, diligent, and selfless stewards. In our daily endeavours, there is a need to be faithful to our duties. Doing all things as unto the Lord brings satisfaction and blessings. There are examples of faithful and unfaithful servants in the Bible. We are to emulate good examples such as Ruth, Deborah, Mary and ultimately Jesus, our perfect example. For instance, in the case of Ruth, she served Naomi diligently and God intervened in Ruth’s situation.

Dear friends, if you are not faithful in that office and you receive a monthly salary, you may be setting yourself up for unnecessary chaos in life. Also, if we are faithful in little, we can be entrusted with much. Being a faithful steward is a deliberate choice one must choose every day and in every undertaking. God rewards those who diligently seek Him. Therefore, regardless of your rank and what you do, be a faithful steward. As you render services to people, be honest, and transparent, and God will exalt you because God takes delight in righteousness and truth.

Daily Confession: Lord help me to be faithful in my service unto you and humanity.

Intercessory prayer: May our youths give themselves to faithful and godly service in Jesus’ name.

Hymn: Only remembered by what we have done

Thus, would we pass from the earth

And its toiling

Only remembered by what

We have done
