Serving God’s Purpose
For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was buried among his fathers and experienced decay [in the grave]. Acts 13:36 [AMP]
David will be remembered for many things: he was a great worshipper and a good leader. He also had an illicit affair with Beertheseba and killed her husband, Urriah. He was punished for the later acts. David was a man after God’s own heart (I Samuel 13:14). He was a man of the high spiritual understanding who tapped into the revelation of the Age to come. He was ahead of his time because he followed God wholeheartedly. Psalm 119 is a testimony and undiluted attention of someone who delights in God’s word. David served purpose.
Our memory verse qualifies the kind of purpose David served. David served the purpose of God in his own generation. People are serving different things, passion, and purpose such as career, money, status, and family. A song writer wrote “ you’re gonna hve to serve somebody”. The question is who will you serve. For David, he served the purposes of God in his own time. There is a great benefit in serving the will and purpose of God for “the world is passing away, and with it its lusts [the shameful pursuits and ungodly longings]; but the one who does the will of God and carries out His purposes lives forever. Dear friends, seek to know God and serve His purpose for your generation.

I have decided to follow Jesus,
I have decided to follow Jesus,
