The Father’s Daily Blessings
Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah (Psalm 68:19, KJV)
Bible Reading: Psalm 68
For the past few days, we have been considering the Father’s love as expressed in many ways such as in his mercy, goodness, favour, care, compassion and commandment. Did you know that God blesses us daily? We cannot survive a day without God’s blessings. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray and part of His teaching is asking for our daily bread, “give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11). God is interested in our practical needs so He loads us with benefits every day. He gives us ‘bread’ both to survive and thrive. Bread is used both literally and figuratively here — food for our spirit, soul and body. The truth that God blesses us daily offers at least three implications: 1) show our gratitude to God for His daily provision; 2) ask Him daily for our needs. This will build total dependence on him and boost our faith: and 3) take not his blessings for granted but be faithful stewards because all blessings come from Him. Dear friends, be encouraged that no matter how tough the circumstance may be, God offers us our daily bread and with Him, our future is secured.
Daily Confession: Thank you God for your blessings every day. I pray for my daily bread today in Jesus’ name.
Intercessory prayer: God I pray that You meet the needs of my friends, colleagues and my neighbours to Jesus
Hymn: What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
