The Help We Need (III)
Let brotherly love continue. (Hebrews 13:1, ESV)
Bible Reading: Luke 10:25-37
Yesterday we mentioned that God uses men to dispense His help. This means that blessings come from God through men to men. We cannot remove men from the equation. This truth is important because it helps us to value and invest in relationships.
To bring this series to a close, I would like to encourage you to be the help that someone needs. Since God uses men to bless men, position yourself for God to use you to bless others. This is the case with Jonathan and David (1 Samuel 18). Although Jonathan was the son of King Saul, he allowed himself to be used by the Lord for David. Both men became covenant partners and brothers. In our Bible reading today, Jesus’ parable about the good Samaritan shows that we have to be deliberate in showing mercy unto others. We must care for and have compassion for people regardless of race, status, gender, and nationality. If needed, we have to call God to increase our capacity for love and provide the resources we need to show love. Dear friends, God has mercy upon whom He chooses to have mercy and uses men to dispense His mercy. I encourage you to ask God who He wants to use you for today.
Daily Confession: Open the eyes of my heart Lord to see who you want me to bless. Quicken my heart, take selfishness away from me and help me to become a source of blessing and help to others in Jesus’ name, amen.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for God to raise destiny helpers for your friends, colleagues, neighbours etc
Hymn: My help (x3)
All of my help cometh from the Lord.
