The Holy God (II)

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16, KJV).

Bible Reading: 1 Peter 1:15-17

Let’s continue where we stopped yesterday. God is holy and He wants us to be holy. Our heavenly Father calls us to holy both for our sojour here on earth and our eternity (Matthew 5:48). God’s call has implications. For instance, it shapes our worldview, daily transaction and interactions. As parents, we mirror holiness to our children. In our place of work, holiness guide our work and relationship with colleagues. As children, we obey God’s instruction to honour our parents (both biological and non-biological parents). As leaders, holiness guides how we govern God’s people and steward every resource entrusted to us. As pastors, mentors and leaders, how make holiness our lifestyle so that we can lead to bring others to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Dear friends, despite the ungodly and unholy ways of the world, we have been called to be in fellowship with God and one another and that means we have to be holy as our heavenly Father. If you find yourself in a difficult situation due to your faith, I encourage you to remember that God is not unfaithful to “allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able” to handle (1 Corinthians 10:13 CSB). As Apostle Paul says, “our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” (2 Corinthians 4:17). Finally, just like in the time of Elijah, there are many Christians who have not and will never bow to the prince of this world (I Kings 19:18). Choose to live a holy and righteous life so that you can ‘see’ God here on earth and in eternity.

Daily Confession: Lord “search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)

Intercessory Prayer: We pray for God’s mighty act to showforth in our nations in Jesus name.

Hymn: Holy, holy, holy!

Lord God Almighty

Early in the morning

Our song shall rise to Thee

Holy, holy, holy!

Merciful and mighty

God in three persons

Blessed Trinity!
