The Knowledge of Jesus Christ (II)

In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

Bible Reading: Daniel 9:1-3

“That I may know You (Jesus Christ)” is the prayer of Apostle Paul. He knew that the kingdom of God is built on the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). In our Bible reading today, Daniel shows that he understood by books. Knowledge does not come by osmosis. Each person has to pay the price of acquiring knowledge. When Daniel learnt from books about the situation of his people, this moved him to pray for mercy for his people. Your knowledge should move you to action that will change your life and that of others for good. A knowledge that is not focused on Jesus can make you arrogant and puff up but if you are centred in Christ and you allow the Holy Spirit to truly work in you, your life will reveal the knowledge of Jesus. Dear friends, how can you gain knowledge of Jesus without studying and meditating on the word of God? How do you show the knowledge of God’s word if you do not live according to God’s word? I encourage you to “study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV).

Daily Confession: I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: he eyes of my understanding being enlightened; that I may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints” (Ephesians 1:17-18).

Intercessory prayer: Pray for fresh hunger for the word of God for this generation.

Hymn: Knowing you, Jesus

knowing You

There’s no greater thing

You’re my all, You’re the best

You’re my joy, my righteousness

And I love You, Lord.
