The Manger (II)

And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” Luke 2:12 (NLT)

Bible Reading: Luke 2:11-20

In our study yesterday, we noted that a manger, an insignificant place for feeding animals, became significant because of the birth of Jesus. As insignificant as it was, it became prominent and a reference point from that time till eternity. I think that God is saying that no matter how dirty our life is, our story can change when we accept the love of Jesus and give Him room in his heart (John 3:16). In today’s Bible reading, the Goodnews about Jesus’ birth spread and a great company of heavenly host and angels praised God for peace has rested amongst men vs 13-14. A detailed study of the account of Jesus’ birth reveals shepherds, wise men etc., joyfully travelled far distances to see Jesus. The joy that filled both heaven and earth was tremendous. This is the kind that fills heaven when anyone comes to Christ. Jesus says, “I tell you; there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:17). Dear friends when Jesus becomes the centre of your life, people will marvel when they see the transformation Christ brings into your life. They would love to know what brought the changes in your life, and you can point them to Jesus. Let your life be a sign that points people to Christ.

Self-Reflection: Christ in you, the hope of glory

Action Point: Let others see Jesus in you this Christmas season and beyond.

Daily Confession: Thank you, Jesus, for the salvation of my soul.

Intercessory prayer: Pray for anyone who needs the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Hymn: Be near me Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay,

Close by me forever and love me, I pray,

Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,

And take us to heaven to live with Thee there.
