The Power of Unity

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. (Psalm 133:1, NIV)

Bible Reading: Psalm 133

We have been called to build together, live in harmony and advance God’s kingdom. We have not been called to build mansions and empires for ourselves. Christians need to understand that we lose so much when we are divided. We are scattered as sheep without shepherd when we are selfish and we refuse to understand the unified relevance of that God given vision to the entire kingdom.

Aaron in today’s reading stands as the church (remember he was a priest) and God is emphasizing that until we unite, we cannot make huge impacts across the nations; until we understand that God is a respecter of no denomination only true worshipers who will worship in spirit and in truth, only then we can live the life that God wants us to live.

Dear friends and ministers of the gospel, what is your effort in bringing unity into the fold? Let us come to that place of repentance and gather the lost sheep for the Lord because He has given us that responsibility and that is why He has called us!

Self-Reflection:  What is my effort in bringing unity into the body of Christ?

Action Point: Take this burden to God in prayer and ask Him to help you contribute your own quota in uniting God’s people.

Daily Confession: Lord, unite your church in this nation and across the world again!
