Trust in the Lord

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember and trust in the name of the Lord our God. ” Psalms 20:7 AMP

Bible Reading: Psalms 121

Chariots and horses are physical weapons of war. In past civilization, chariots were used by soldiers who were prepared for battle. Unlike now when we have sophisticated weapons like machine guns, aircrafts, air missiles, bombs etc, then, spears, shields and swords were used. During the time of king David, chariots and horses were important and were not only used during war, they determined the economic level of a kingdom. For instance, we know the economic strength of a country by its chariots and horses.

In our reading today, king David reiterated the need to trust in the Lord. While some trust in chariots and horses, David remembers and trusts in the name of the Lord our God. Glory to God that we can trust in the name of Jesus and be saved. In fact, the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and they are safe (Proverbs 18:10). We can call upon the Lord and be saved, delivered, healed and be directed. Halleluyah!

It is not that having chariots and horses is bad, rather, it is trusting in them that God hates. Our physical weapons, qualifications and wealth etc are useless except the Lord breathes upon them. Have you seen where money becomes useless in the face of sickness? King David had a host of chariots and warriors who subdued nations, yet he understood that the name of the Lord saves! Although it is possible that the same horse and chariots are what will be used to engage the battle, just like you have to apply for that job with your certificate, it is God that gives the victory. Dear friends, trust in the Lord with all your heart and He shall direct your path.

Self-Reflection: Is trusting GOD fully, in your ability?

Daily Confession: Lord Jesus I put my trust in You alone. I choose never to trust in my ability because all other ground is sinking sand.

Hymn: On Christ the solid Rock I stand
