Understanding by Books
In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, came to understand by books the number of the years, according to the word of the Lord as it came to Jeremiah the prophet, that He would spend seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. Daniel 9:2
Bible Reading: Daniel 1:3-6
Readers are leaders. That statement cannot be overemphasized. This is because reading helps to shape out thoughts and increase our knowledge base. The more you read, the more you know. By reading, you come in contact with information that has the potential to shape your entire life and bring the needed transformation. If you desire to really know something and be good at it, then you must spend time studying. Success does not come by accident , you have to make the necessary sacrifice. Some people have said that when you stop reading, you start dying. When you read the account of Daniel in today’s memory verse, Daniel declared that he understood by books. Understanding came by revelation that Daniel got through books. Reading brings light and deliverance. Some people spend their time reading junks that will not be beneficial to them in anyway, I will encourage you to read books that will promote both your spiritual and personal development.
Also, as children of God, we must spend time studying our Bible and learning spiritual truths. This is because the more you know God’s word, the more you are able to filter wrong information that will not profit you in anyway. This can come in form of a personal Bible study, listening to sermons, attending Bible study in the church or reading spirit-filled books. In the end, there will be a distinction between those who study and those who do not. Even the Bible advises us to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” 2Tim. 2:15.
Daily Confession: Father, I receive an understanding heart as I study. Help me to excel in my spiritual and my academic life in Jesus name.
Intercessory prayer: Pray for wisdom for our leaders.
Hymn: Stand up, stand up for Jesus
Ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high his royal banner,
It must not suffer loss:
From victory unto victory
His army he shall lead,
‘Til every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.
