Wait Upon The Lord

The eyes of all wait upon Thee and Thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest thine hand and satisfiest the desires of every living thing “

Psalms 145:15-16

Bible Reading: Psalms 37:25-34

Yesterday, we reflected on persistent prayer. Constant communication with God deepens our relationship and connection with God.  After you have asked, sought and knocked, you need to wait. We live in a generation where waiting has become a taboo and we want everything in no time. Fast food, fast track and speedy internet etc. It is not that these things are bad, rather, it seems this new trend has reduced our aptitude to wait patiently.

Waiting on God means that one is aware that God is capable of granting one’s heart desires. It means to look unto God and depend absolutely on Him. It means to know what God’s word says concerning a situation and to hold fast to that word. (Psalms 130:5-6). God satisfies the need of those who wait on Him because He will never forsake the righteous (Psalms 37:28).  It takes faith to wait upon the Lord and as we wait, we are building our faith. Wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord (Psalms 27:14).

Furthermore, when we wait on the Lord, we are to keep His way (Psalms 37:34a). Waiting is not a waste of time or a time to be idle. Rather, it is a time to invest in God’s word, self-development, deeper intimacy and knowledge of God. Our faith is tested at the time of waiting because that is when we can know if we truly believe God.

Dear friends, again, I say wait upon the Lord and in God’s perfect time, He will accomplish all that He has said concerning you.

Daily Confession: Lord I receive the grace to hold fast to Your word as I wait on You in Jesus name. Lord I also ask for a heart of discernment too to know when to take a step of action where necessary.

Hymn: It’s so sweet to trust in Jesus

             How I’ve prove Him o’er and o’er
