With God… (II)

For by You I can crush a troop, And by my God I can leap over a wall. Psalm 18:29 AMP

Bible Reading: Joshua 1:8

Fear! Fear of the known and the unknown. We’ve all been there. There are reasons for the Bible encouraging us over 365 times not to be afraid. Apart from the fact that fear is not of the Lord, fear is a spirit which can ruin both the present and the future. No matter how fearful fear maybe (pun intended!), God is more powerful and He has made provision for His children. Apostle Paul writes: “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control] 2 Timothy 1:7AMP.

In today’s Bible reading, we meet with Joshua, who like many of us was afraid of the journey of leading the people of Israel. God has a strategy to overcome fear— Speak, Meditate and Do it. First, this book of the Law (that is the Bible) shall not depart out of your mouth (speak it), but you shall meditate on it day and night (meditate/reflect on it/think about it), observe all that’s written in it (Do it), then you shall make your way prosperous and have good success (the result).

Dear friends, everything goes back to God. Like Joshua, for by God courage is guaranteed. I encourage you to follow this strategy and you will see fear disappear out of your life.

Action Point: Make a list of things you are afraid of in your life and search God’s word concerning them.

Intercessory Prayer: As many resume schools across the world in this season, we pray for your blessings, protection and provision in Jesus name.

Hymn: I surrender all,

I surrender all,

Unto Thee my blessed Saviour,

I surrender all.
